Labi Siffre - ‘I Got The’

So my friends showed me this on Saturday night and blew my mind.

Overall great song, but listen out on 2.30 and you’ll defiantly recognize a famous sample taken from this tune.

Well Obits Rock…

Paper Posters that play Music

After being obessed with my other social media platforms I’d thought I would do pay some much needed attention to my blog.

I read an article this morning that ‘the clever clogs’ that consists of British Scientists and American researchers have unveiled paper posters that play music via printed circuits with conductive ink. This technology also apparently still has a low printing cost too, in order to easily mass produce the media.

The first prototype for this technology is called ‘The Listening Post’. The posters consists of local bands plays a short clip of a band’s music when a thumbnail image is pressed. Tickets can also be booked via the poster.

PostcardsMock up of how Albums could be promoted via Postcards
The same team have also been developing postcards that play samples of music with an interactive player. This is a step where I could see my current employer Boomerang Media could utilise with their current Cinema postcard advertising. You could for example sample upcoming movie soundtracks for upcoming films in the Cinema Foyer. ( see picture)

Or perhaps HMV could try and pick up business by handing out music sample postcards in the street?

Greeting Cards

And after all, if not anything else…just think about how thin musical birthday cards could be, or perhaps order a romantic spotify playlist on your valentine cards. This could be the new Moon Pig. However hopefully with better designs and advertising campaign.

An example of a how the postcards  containing music clips work via a unique ‘paper player’.

Where the Hell have I been?
Due to to the Beyonce Glastonbury hype, I saw one of videos on TV called ‘Why don’t you Love me’. ( this has been sat in my drafts for a week lol)
First of all… She is dam fine in it. Secondly, man that whole 1950s pin up thing was goooooooood.
Now the obivous has been stated. It starting me thinking how similiar the art Direction of the video, including all the various household scenes was to Gil Elvgren’s work.
I have his book ‘All His Glamorous American Pin - Ups’.  I haven’t looked at it for a while but I scanned through it. It’s odd to think what the public found appealing from 1950s to the 1970s compared to now.

Also I recognise compared to the paintings, the Beyonce music video had a large portion of ‘sexed up’ Bettie Page glam  thrown into the Mix.

But that’s just down to us public demanding more awesome, and being generally less shocked by, and expecting at very self confident strutting about in her undies to sell her music. Still, I think we can all agree this is far sexier than anything in a Rap video.
And Lastly, thse designs make great Tattoos! Check out this Gil Elvgren Tattoo Video

Went to Download Festival over the weekend. System of a Down, Rob Zombie, Korn, Disturbed were amazing. My new favourite live band Skindred! Download did the metal  robot dance lol.

For me, So far The best shows this year was definatly Rob Zombie’s UK tour back in Feb (with Joey Jordison, Piggy D & John 5) , followed by Roger Waters’ doing The Wall at the O2.

“Get Some” by Lykke Li

It’s the music played in the background during the Catwoman section of the Arkham City trailer and it’s a big bloody good!

Went to see Roger’s Waters The Wall opening night at the o2 on Wednesday.

It was AMAZING. Special effects were incredible. Just watch the clip below, especially at 2minutes 30 seconds in. The clip also shows David Gilmour making a guest appearance on Thursday night..so gutted, gutted  I missed him.
Spoilers. If you are going to see him, don’t watch the video or take note of any exploding airplanes, 3D effects, Giant puppets, Flying Pigs, Military uprising. Construction and demolition of a giant wall during the act….ummm yeah.

I drew this on Illustrator. It was for my Digital Design Class.I know I’m missing a bunch of good bands/artist, but there was only some much room and time! Click through to go to my personal blog, where I like to post other drawings and art of mine.

How to make Justin Bieber sound better...

Justin Bieber is an utter pile of w**k

However if you slow his song ‘U SMILE’ or how it is known to the majority of the world..’Ouch my ears are bleeding’. down by 800% then he is actually better, and creates an epic spooky 30 min Brian Eno-esque song. check it out

I am a huge Pink Floyd fan. Here is just some Syd Barrett fan art i created. Not sure what I’ll do with it. Perhaps use it for my own version of the David Gilmour produced ’ An Introduction to Syd Barrett’ album that will be coming out later in 2010.
